I’ve always been a little puzzled by 55+ communities that don’t include exterior maintenance as part of their services. Granted, it may simply be in pursuit of keeping homeowner’s association fees as low as possible. Or an acknowledgment that a majority of residents actually prefer to have some control over how their yards look or are maintained.
That said, I think there are benefits to providing those exterior maintenance/lawn care services. For one, associations maintain a uniform and well-manicured look throughout the community. And there is less time/energy/money spent on enforcement issues for homeowners who run afoul of community guidelines. And in the case of Del Webb Ponte Vedra, they already maintain community gardens, a communal space where residents can grow their own plants and vegetables and, in general, just “touch grass”, as they say.
So, while owners of single-family homes in Del Webb Ponte Vedra are responsible for doing their own yard work and exterior maintenance, there are options for those who prefer a less “hands on” approach to home ownership. Whether you plan on being a part-time Florida resident, you like the convenience of a “lock and leave” type of lifestyle for traveling, or you just are done with doing yard work, Del Webb Ponte Vedra’s condos and carriage homes may be a good option for you:
