Seems like everyone wants a faster, more direct route to I-95. The first phase of state road 9B, connecting I-295 (formerly 9A) to US-1 just south of St. Augustine Road is scheduled to open later this summer (“summer” may be a flexible term here). Phase two of the 9B project will connect it with I-95 between St. Augustine Rd. and CR 210.
Just south of 9B, construction is underway on yet another route to I-95. This roadway will branch off the existing Valley Ridge Blvd. (the old CR-210) and fly over the railroad tracks at US-1, continuing on CR 210 west to the existing I-95 interchange. As a result, drivers coming from Nocatee and Ponte Vedra Beach will no longer be held up at the traffic light by the Gate station, waiting to make short southerly jog down US-1 to cross the railroad tracks at CR 210.
A more direct route to I-95 means an even more convenient commute for residents of Nocatee/Ponte Vedra Beach. You can read more about the project at Nocatee’s website.
