If you’re familiar with HGTV and their annual Dream Home Sweepstakes, you’ll be excited to learn that the new HGTV Smart Home (formerly Green Home) will be built in Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 2013. Like the Green Homes before it, the HGTV Smart Home will use environmentally-sound building practices and products. But it will also incorporate emerging technologies to connect appliances and devices, allowing the homeowner to “monitor energy use and control home systems such as security, interior climate, lighting and other electronics.”

Just blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, the 2013 HGTV Smart Home will be built in the Paradise Key neighborhood in Jacksonville Beach.
