Some of the saltwater fish you’ll typically find in the area include redfish, pompano, black drum, sheepshead, cobia, flounder, barracuda, skates, trout and many more.

First Coast a Top Destination for Golf

October 8, 2011 By Scott Sandberg Leave a Comment

Jacksonville and St. Augustine GolfNortheast Florida residents can chip away at their golf game at nearly 60 golf courses in and around the greater Jacksonville area. And golf course communities let true fairway fanatics immerse themselves in the golfing lifestyle.

Even if you’re not a player, Florida’s First Coast offers golf-related events and destinations that are fun for everyone.
Every year, The PLAYERS Championship comes to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. Sometimes referred to as “the fifth major”, The PLAYERS Championship sees thousands of locals and visitors alike enjoying the competition at the picturesque Stadium Course at Sawgrass.

World Golf Village in St. Augustine has a number of attractions, from the World Golf Hall of Fame to a PGA Tour Golf Academy and two highly-rated golf courses. The King & The Bear was designed by golf legends Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, and Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen consulted on the design of The Slammer & Squire. You’ll also find the largest IMAX 3D digital screen in the Southeast.

Of course, you can also find a home on one of the many golf course communities in the area.

Contact me today for more information about golf, and golf course communities, in Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Augustine, Florida.

Any Day can be a Day at the Beach

October 8, 2011 By Scott Sandberg Leave a Comment

First Coast BeachesThere’s nearly 40 miles of coastline on Florida’s First Coast. From Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island to St. Augustine Beach and everything in between, a day at the beach is almost always within reach.

In Duval County, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach are known not only for the beach, but also dining and nightlife. The Jacksonville Beach pier is a great place to cast a line or do a little surfing. And Pete’s Bar in Neptune Beach is a local landmark boasting a cameo appearance in the John Grisham novel “The Brethren”.

Just to south in St. Johns County, you’ll find upscale Ponte Vedra Beach. Home to TPC Sawgrass and the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, the coastline here is dotted with million dollar estates overlooking the Atlantic. A little further south is the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, a protected area extending from the beach inland to the Guana River Marsh area. Here, the beach is pristine and undeveloped, making it the ideal location for sea turtle nests.

Head even further south and you’ll discover eclectic St. Augustine. Known primarily as the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine offers a vibrant mix of beaches, dining, entertainment and funky shops and pubs. Tour the historic district first. Then take a detour off the beaten path to explore the beaches, including Vilano Beach, and the many hidden treasures in and around town.

Jacksonville – Where Florida Starts

October 8, 2011 By Scott Sandberg Leave a Comment

Jacksonville, FloridaJacksonville means many things to many different people. Maybe it’s because Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. In fact, all of Duval County is considered Jacksonville.

The downtown area and neighborhoods have their own appeal. But nearby, you’ll find the oceanfront communities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach, the riverfront communities of Orange Park, Mandarin, Fleming Island and Fruit Cove, and suburban communities like Ponte Vedra, St. Johns, Palm Valley and Southside.

In short, there’s a lot to explore. Residents who enjoy a more urban lifestyle prefer the historic neighborhoods of Riverside and Avondale, San Marco and Murray Hill. Others enjoy the laid back lifestyle of the beaches communities. Still others like the convenience and proximity to shopping, schools and more in the more traditional suburban communities.

Whatever your style, there’s something to suit your taste in Jacksonville.
